CHEAP Multimeters usually have a bad reputation. Why meter politics play a role...
I hope you'll agree that multimeters are incredibly fascinating and useful instruments for both professionals and the hobby lifestyle.
CHEAP vs EXPENSIVE
“DO I Need to spend hundreds on a multimeter?”
The short answer is a resounding NO. Today has never been a better time to buy/own a multimeter. In the world of Metrology we are blessed with an abundance of excellent testing instruments and gear at bargain prices compared to only a few years ago.
What a Fluke?
Imagine what it looks like compared to just a decade ago when most multimeters were prohibitively priced and only a professionals could warrant spending the $$$ to obtain such gear.
No longer. With advent in technology, design and engineering prowess, we can now buy multimeters that can do more for far less money, incredible!
Multimeter Snobbery
“If it's CHEAP it must be CRAP”
Wow, haven't we heard this one too many times. Despite some name calling by some heavy hitters in the Electronics industry the masses have eventually realized that such blameless jabbering really has no basis in truth. Today, inexpensive AKA CHEAP multimeters can perform admirably right alongside the big guns! In fact, some inexpensive multimeters are even more powerful than their brand name counterparts.
Inspired
No longer does CHEAP mean garbage. Todays world of Metrology consists of many name brands with solid reputations, both inexpensive and expensive alike.
Such as UNI-T, MASTECH, SANWA, HABOTEST, FLUKE, HOLDPEAK and many more.

This is definitely a good thing for the end user as it provides an abundance of choices at all price levels. No longer does expensive equate to well made or capable in the world of Multimeters.
